Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City features two games that are downloadable content for Grand Theft Auto IV on the Xbox 360. The two games are The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. This game is only available on Xbox 360 consoles. To play GTA: Episodes from Liberty City, you do not need the original GTA IV. Just pop in the disc and you are ready to play. After months of playing and eventually beating both, I will give you my opinions and views on both episodes and give you an idea of whether it is worth your money.

The Lost and Damned

The Lost and Damned is definitely full of fun. If you love the idea of a crazy biker gang, you will love this episode. In the beginning, it took a while for me to get used to riding the bike. I would continuously run into things and hit cars which would send me flying off of the bike. Even though I was not a pro at bike riding, it was definitely fun to do things in the game that could possibly send me to prison if done in real life.

After getting used to riding the bike, I decided to try a few missions. The first few missions are always easy. I began doing mission after mission. I thought that maybe the mission difficulty would get harder but honestly, it never really did throughout the entire game. The missions were definitely on the easy side. I never once complained about not being able to complete a mission. The only thing I found to be a challenge sometimes was losing the police on a 3-star wanted level or higher.

My next point is when will Rockstar get rid of these crazy races?! It is hard enough to race in the streets of Liberty City in a car. It is even harder to race on a bike. You will crash a million times and go flying off of the bike and possibly lose the race. On The Lost and Damned, you even have to hit people in the race with pipes to knock them off course and of course they can hit you back. So not only do you have to concentrate on steering the bike, but you also have to concentrate on not getting hit. Too much concentration if you ask me.

As you progress through the main story, you get to procedural missions and random character missions, just like in GTA IV. These missions are all rather easy also so you will not spend much time on it. There are also many activities around Liberty City such as bike races (go figure) and gang wars. I absolutely love gang wars and you can do as many as you want. In gang wars, you basically battle other gangs in areas around Liberty City. The more wars you do, the harder they become. Also, if you get extremely bored you can find and kill 50 seagulls around Liberty City. If you kill all 50, you will be closer to your 100% completion goal.

The most fun part of this game is the multiplayer modes. The modes are Deathmatch, Club Business, Races, Lone Wolf Biker, Chopper vs. Chopper, Witness Protection, and Own the City. These modes are all unique and are guaranteed to offer you hours of fun.

All in all, I am very pleased with this episode. Even though it is not extremely challenging, it will still produce non-stop fun. You should definitely give it a try for yourself.

The Ballad of Gay Tony

The Ballad of Gay Tony is even more fun. You play as this guy named Luis Lopez, who is the bodyguard for famous club owner, Tony Prince. You do jobs for Tony to help him get out of his debt and save his club empire from collapsing. These missions are more challenging than The Lost and Damned. I found myself doing a few missions over and over. Of course this is the frustration for most GTA games but once you pass the mission, you feel a sense of accomplishment.

There is one particular mission where I spent days trying to pass. It is a mission where you have to destroy a yacht and then kill fleeing arms dealers. You have to do all of this from a helicopter and manage to not crash the helicopter in the water. I crashed many times and almost gave up on this mission and the game in general. It frustrated me so bad. After about 300 tries, I eventually beat the mission. Unfortunately, there was another mission like this where you have to use a helicopter to destroy pursuing police helicopters. It was a fun mission but still frustrating.

In this episode, there are also random character missions and new missions called club management missions. In these club management missions, Luis basically does jobs for the club while he is there working. These missions are fun and are not much of a challenge.

There are many activities in this episode such as drug wars (just like gang wars in The Lost and Damned), base jumping, cage fighting, and triathlon races. I enjoy these activities each time I play them. There are also 50 seagulls to kill in this episode. Have fun finding them.

The multiplayer modes are also great. There is Deathmatch/Team Deathmatch, Races, GTA Races, Free Mode, and Party Mode. I have had hours upon hours of fun in these multiplayer activities.

I highly recommend this episode. It is extremely fun, addictive, and challenging at times. It is promised that you will have loads of fun and enjoy every minute of playing this game.

My advice, go out and buy it NOW. You will not regret it!
